Scattered storms Friday bring big changes

Thursday marks our 38th (and quite possibly final) 90° day of the year.  Scattered storms will lead to a big temperature change for the weekend.

We are sweating it out with high temps and high humidity.  With all of that, we will again have a few downpours through the evening hours.  Any showers will fade with sunset.  Clear skies and very warm temperatures are on tonight’s weather menu.  Lows stay in the lower 70s for most of us.

Friday is a transition day for us.  With start off with sunshine, but a few showers are possible over NW parts of the state by mid to late morning.  These will sweep SE across the area.  An afternoon cold front will bring more scattered showers and storms.  Right now, the timing is from 2pm NW to 9pm SE.  There is a Marginal/Low Risk some of the storms could be strong to severe with gusty winds.  The rain will help break the heat, with highs in the 80s.

Saturday will feel TOTALLY different.  We’ll start the day in the mid to upper 50s.  Quite a few clouds will hold highs in the upper 60s.  It’s fitting that fall arrives at 9:54 Saturday night.
